Practical Information

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday – Friday, from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Is Jollipoli Preschool Licensed and Inspected?

Our school is licensed and inspected by the Florida Department of Children and Families. We meet and exceed their ratios, class sizes, staff qualifications, safety, and cleanliness requirements. The local Fire Department also inspects equipment and ongoing safety measures.

What happens if I arrive late to pick up my child?

Our school is open until 6:30 p.m. If you know you will arrive late to pick-up your child, please notify the school as soon as possible. Late pick-up fees will apply.

Are birthdays and holidays celebrated at Jollipoli?

At Jollipoli Preschool our focus is on the individual and our acceptance of differences and it is because of this philosophy that we are committed to incorporating and celebrating diversity in our program. One of the most important things that we do in our work with children, families and students is to encourage recognition and acceptance of each individual’s intrinsic and uniqueness.

Does Jollipoli accept subsidized programs?

Yes, we participate in both the School Readiness (CDS) and VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) programs. For more information visit: www.elcmdm.org.

Do you provide help for children who require additional assistance?

We want to assure you that we are committed to the well-being and development of all our students. If during the course of their time with us, we notice any signs that may suggest a need for early intervention or additional support, we will promptly communicate with you.

However, we do not allow therapists to conduct sessions within the preschool premises due to privacy reasons and the potential disruption to our students’ routines. Instead, we encourage you to consider accommodating therapy sessions at home after school hours.

We believe that this approach will not only ensure the privacy and comfort of all our students but also allow for a seamless continuation of their educational routine.

Admissions & Starting School

What forms do I need to register my child?

You will need to request your child’s most current immunization and physical forms from your child’s pediatrician. You will need to complete all enrollment forms provided by the school and pay the registration and materials fee. Registration and materials fees are due annually.

What time should I bring my child to school?

Jollipolli Preschool opens at 6:30 a.m, for those parents who need early drop off. In order for your child to take full advantage of our daily academic program, we suggest that you have your child at school no later than 9:00 a.m. each day.

Classroom

What would a typical day be like for my child?

At Jollipoli, each classroom has a structured schedule which begins with morning arrival, followed by a breakfast snack and table activities. Then between 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. Circle Time begins, followed by small group time, centers and outdoor play. Between 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (depending upon the age group), students will have lunch, story time and prepare for naptime. After a mid-day nap, the students are refreshed and ready for a fun-filled afternoon, which typically includes: music, centers, the 2nd small group activity for the day, afternoon snack and afternoon outdoor play. The day ends for the children with free-choice time in centers and departure. Half-day program children depart at 12 p.m.

My child is not potty trained, do your teachers assist with potty training?

Absolutely, toilet training is a big part of our Toddler II program as we teach independence and self-help skills. In order to achieve potty training, parents must also continue daily potty training at home. All efforts by children will be positively acknowledged with praise and encouragement.

Are children expected to nap in your program?

Although children are not required to nap in our program, we encourage them to rest. To support meeting children’s need for rest, we offer children a chance to rest after lunch from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. (schedule varies by age). Rest Time begins with some soothing stories read to all. We provide a cot for your child. Nap-set (crib-size sheet, washable blanket, and pillow) are sold and are required for all children. Nap-set must be marked with his/ her name. The nap-set will be sent home every Friday to be laundered. Half-day students will depart before nap/rest time.

Food & Nutrition

Are meals and snacks provided?

We cater our meals including morning snack, lunch and snacks. Parents have the option of purchasing the catered meals or providing meals and beverages for their children. We do ask that if you choose to bring your child’d food that it should be healthy. Fast foods are discouraged. Ask about our catered meal program for an additional monthly fee.

Children’s Safety

What happens if my child gets hurt at school?

In the event that a child has an accident, a qualified staff trained and certified in First Aid and CPR will administer the appropriate treatment. Parents will be immediately notified about the accident and an incident report will be completed and signed by the parent at pick-up time. For minor bumps, parents will be given an incident report at pick-up time. In the event of a serious injury, the school will contact the Miami-Dade County Fire and Rescue Department for necessary treatment.

What is your sick policy?

It is in the best interest of your child, as well as the other children and staff, to keep your child at home when he/she is sick, not feeling well or lethargic. Children who are brought to school sick will not be permitted to stay. In the event that your child becomes sick while at school, the parents will be notified and expected to pick-up their child immediately. A note from the child’s physician will be required to return to school. However, if a child is sent home with fever of 100.4 Degrees Fahrenheit or higher, he/she will not be permitted to return to school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours. Upon enrollment, parents will receive a parent handbook with specific guidelines regarding our sick policy.

Do you administer medication at school?

Yes. Although we administer medication, a doctor’s note form the child’s physician is required, along with a signed authorization form by the parent. However, we will not administer certain over-the-counter medications, such as fever suppressants and other drugs that may have potentially adverse affects on your child.

Our Preschool Curriculum

Jollipoli Preschool uses The Creative Curriculum®. This curriculum is widely regarded as a forward-thinking, comprehensive, rigorously researched curriculum approach that honors creativity and respects the role that teachers play in making learning exciting and relevant for every child. The Creative Curriculum is fully aligned with the States early learning standards. Every classroom has its own age appropriate goals and criteria to maximize the development and happiness of each individual child.

Our hands-on approach to learning engages children with different learning styles. Our curriculum is inspired by the natural curiosities of children.

Our STEAM educational blueprint takes cutting edge learning to new heights! STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Through this engaging and hands-on method we encourage your children to explore, ask questions and discover through their own imagination, experiment and of course, interactive play! Children will develop creative thinking, critical thinking and problems solving skills to be successful in creating new and unique solutions for a changing world.

Research Based Programs

Research shows that success in learning is increased when the learner is at the center of the experience. It is extremely beneficial for children to be presented with multiple opportunities to explore the topics they are studying.

After School Enrichment Program

The After School Enrichment program provides a warm, caring environment beyond school hours where children have the opportunity to participate in fun and stimulating activities such as Gymnastics, Creative Art, Ballet , Soccer and more. This allows children to develop important concepts of body awareness, self-confidence, language and gross motor skills.

Music

Our weekly music sessions, included in our tuition, expose children to fundamentals of rhythm, musicality, and self-expression.

Spanish Exposure

Incorporating a second language into their daily routines, children are able to benefit from increased verbal communication, reasoning and even mathematical skills! In addition to learning basic conversational salutations and environmental vocabulary, children are developing cultural awareness and understanding of differences.
